Microsoft

Microsoft is one of the most well known companies worldwide. Being well known means being innovative and progressive in all aspects of the company. This includes their human resources website, better known internally as HRweb. HRweb was overlooked in the future toward Microsoft One.

my role

In building a holistic brand family, I worked with the business team along with my manager and a user researcher to better the user experience of HRweb. I did this by working with the user researcher doing guerrilla testing. With this information I was able to create wireframes to communicate with the business to move forward to visual designs.

customer experience

Since HRweb had an existing website, the expansive amount of information was my first task to dive deep into. After I fully analyzed the different parts that could be consolidated, I set out to ideate on different concepts.

WIREFRAME

Working with a user researcher we went out and gained information from employees of all levels. From director level to intern to better understand their pain points and commonalities. Based on this information I was able to create wireframes to better communicate to the business and development team members.

UNKNOWN BENEFITS

Being a Microsoft employee means that you get a lot of benefits. Some benefits that employees never knew about. In the analysis of the information architecture of the existing website, it was clear that a lot of the employee benefits were not presented to the employee in a clear manner. In order to address this issue, I created a wireframe proposing how a new user experience would be beneficial.

HEALTH PLAN SUMMARY

One of the consistent pain points that was brought out during the guerrilla testing, was the multiple steps needed to reach their health plan. At the time there were several modals that needed to click through to finally get to your information. In this wireframe, the user is able to see a high-level summary of their benefits with one click.

final delivery

What was a small project tossed over to a nimble team of 4, turned out to be one of the key elements necessary for all Microsoft employees. After the first round of designs were approved, the leadership then dedicated time and money into building a team dedicated to HRweb, Today, you can find any Microsoft employee using the existing design worldwide.
